The National Golf Club — Championship Course
Par 73 · 18 Holes · David Feherty & David Jones
Belek's first course, and the 2026 host of the Turkish Airlines Open — ten lakes, thirty-two bunkers, and an island green at the second.
Why play here
In May 2026 the National hosted the Turkish Airlines Open. Mikael Lindberg won it at ten under par for four rounds and took a place in the PGA Championship with it. If you want to play a course the DP World Tour has just left, this is the one in Belek.
It is also the one that came first. The National opened on 18 November 1994, before any other championship course in Belek, and it held the PGA European Turkish Seniors Open in 1996 and 1997 when Turkish golf was still new. David Feherty, the Ryder Cup player, designed it with David Jones of the Seniors Tour, across 110 hectares of pine and eucalyptus with the Taurus mountains behind.
The handicap limit is 36 for both men and women, so this is not a course reserved for low handicappers, and the last nine holes are floodlit with play until eight in the evening.
Thirty years on, it is still the course the tour comes back to. That is a harder thing to achieve than opening first.
How it plays
The one you’ll remember
Hole 2, par 3.
Know before you go
The handicap limit is 36 for men and 36 for women. Bring a certificate or a club card.
The last nine holes are floodlit and the course is open from six in the morning until eight in the evening. A late nine after a day on the coast is possible here.
Ten lakes and only thirty-two bunkers. Bring more balls than you think you need, and play away from the water rather than over it.
The greens are overseeded for winter, so they putt slower and hold more from roughly November to March than they do in summer.
The practice facilities are the best argument for arriving early: a 36-bay range at 280 metres, a 1,100 square metre putting green and a 2,300 square metre chipping green.
When to play
March to May and late September to November are the two best and the peak season: warm days, firm turf and no heat to work through. June to August is playable, but the middle of the day is hot and early tee times are the only sensible ones.
December to February is also a good season in Belek — mild days, light rain on surfaces that drains fast, quiet fairways and the lowest prices of the year.
