The original Gloria course and still the harder one — narrow tree-lined fairways, 6,529 metres, and the Taurus mountains behind every green.

Why play here

The Old Course opened in 1997 and was the course that put Gloria on the map. Michel Gayon routed it through mature pine, and almost thirty years later the trees are what define it: the fairways are narrow, the corridors are framed on both sides, and the Taurus mountains sit behind the course on every northward hole.

It is 290 metres longer than Gloria's New Course and noticeably tighter. Six lakes cover 60,000 square metres across a site of 77 hectares, and the greens are large and contoured. The handicap limit is still 36 for men and 40 for women, so a mixed group can play it — but it is the sterner of the two rounds, and your better players will want this one.
Book both courses and your group gets two different golf days from one hotel: the New Course on the arrival day, the Old Course when everyone is warmed up.

How it plays

This is a driving course. The fairways are lined with mature pine on both sides, and a tee shot that leaks ten metres does not finish in light rough — it finishes behind a tree, with no shot to the green. Take the club that finds the short grass, even if it leaves a longer approach. Position matters more here than distance
Both the greens and the fairways are Bermuda, so the ball runs on landing rather than stopping on the first bounce, and putts into the grain are slower than they look. The greens are large and undulating, which means the putting surface is not the target — the correct tier is. Being thirty feet away on the wrong level is worse than being off the green on the right side.
The water is not everywhere, but it is in the places where you will want to take on a shot. Six lakes are enough on a course this tight.

Know before you go

The handicap limit is 36 for men and 40 for women. Bring a certificate or a club card.

The fairways are tight. If you are between clubs off the tee, take the shorter one — the trees punish a miss here far more than the rough does.

Greens and fairways are both Bermuda. The ball runs on landing, and putts into the grain are slower than they look.

Gloria has 45 holes sharing one clubhouse, so tee times fill early in spring and autumn. Book when you book the hotel, not after you arrive.

Three hotels sit on the resort and all of them walk to the first tee. No transfer is needed if you stay on site.

When to play

March to May and late September to November are the two best and the peak season: warm days, firm turf and no heat to work through. June to August is playable, but the middle of the day is hot and early tee times are the only sensible ones.

December to February is also a good season in Belek — mild days, light rain on surfaces that drains fast, quiet fairways and the lowest prices of the year.
